Karl has recently moved back to Hamilton to make his dream of opening a restaurant a reality. Since Karl’s return from overseas he’s worked in some of the best restaurants and lodges in NZ. Most recently taking the reins at Huka Lodge as Executive Chef. 

Previously he was Chef/Patron of the Old Downton Lodge Restaurant in Ludlow, England, which achieved four AA Rosettes. Under Karl’s leadership, the accolades arrived quickly, with not only the four Rosettes which put Old Downton in the top 3% of restaurants in the country and also a place in the 2017-2020 Michelin Guides.


Drew, is our passionate sommelier, with a deep love for wine and a desire to share his knowledge with others. He’s spent countless hours researching and learning about wines, the different types, their regions, and the techniques used to create them.

After finishing University and traveling abroad, Drew decided to pursue his dream of becoming a sommelier by working in some of the Countries best restaurants.
Having spent the past 6 years at Huka Lodge in Taupo, where he has fine-tuned his love of wine.
